Elections are taking place from June 14 to June 16! And you can vote directly from your couch. Apply for voting by mail now and have a say in who represents you at the university this year.
Who may vote? You are eligible to vote if you are enrolled in a degree that is represented by the student body of Computer Science. This is marked on your student ID with an asterisk (*). It does not matter if you are studying for a bachelor’s or master’s degree, in Computer Science, Cyber Security or Life Science Informatics.
Who is elected? Your student body representatives or Fachschaftsvertretung (FSV) in German. The student body represents you within the university. They fill seats in many important bodies and committees at the institute that have a direct impact on your studies. They also elect the members of the student body council which, for example, is responsible for hosting events or advising you in everyday student life.
Will I have to be on campus to vote? No. You can apply for voting by mail through filling out this form with your name, matriculation number, e-mail address (optional) and the postal address where you want to receive the documents. Please hand in your form via wahlen@fachschaft.info before June 2, 18:00 (6 p.m.). Afterwards, the voting paper, ballot and prepaid envelope will be sent to you by the election committee.
When and where can I vote on campus? The ballot box will be open on June 14, 13:00-14:00 (1-2 p.m.), June 15, 13:00-14:00 (1-2 p.m.) and June 16, 16:00-17:00 (4-5 p.m.) in room 0.016 of the Computer Science building (Friedrich-Hirzebruch-Allee 8). The entrance to that room is located in the back of the building, next to the goat enclosure. You can also find it on this map. Please note that you are required to wear a mask while in the building and follow the directions on site to protect yourself and others.
Can I run for student body too? Sure! Everyone eligible to vote can also run for a seat on the student body themselves. To do so, please fill the candidacy form with your last name, first name, (optional: name that should appear on the ballots, e.g. if you want to leave out middle names), address, e-mail address and matriculation number, then print it out and sign it. Please hand in the signed form either as a digital scan (wahlen@fachschaft.info) or via mail before June 2, 18:00 (6 p.m.). In addition to this form, you may send in a short introductory text (max. 500 letters) and a photo (both optional). Those will be published on this website and will be on display at the polling booth.
How do I know who has been elected? The votes will be counted on June 16, starting at 18:00 (6 p.m.) in room 0.016. The count will also be streamed here. Afterward, the official result will be published on the homepage of the student body. On top of that, all elected members will be notified via e-mail. The inaugural meeting of the new student body will take place on June 22, 2021 at 18:00 (6 p.m.) in this video conference
I’m not sure if I’m eligible to vote… You can check whether you are eligible to vote in the electoral register, which will be on display here on May 31, June 1 and June 2, 14:00-15:00 (2-3 p.m.).
